Trust in the Holy Spirit or Stay in Control? (You Can't Do Both) | Ep. 7
Surrender can sound simple until someone challenges a decision you have made. Khalil Hattar and Fr. Sammie Maletta discuss trust in the Holy Spirit through the third principle of Be Disciples, Make Disciples. Fr. Sammie recalls the uncertainty he felt in seminary and the ways he has had to learn from mistakes as a priest. They ask how personal conversion changes the way leaders listen to God and to the people around them.
The discussion gets practical with criticism and teamwork. Fr. Sammie describes learning to hear a colleague’s weekly comments on his preaching as a gift rather than an attack. Using APEST, a framework for considering different ministry gifts, he explains why he needs people whose perspectives differ from his own. They finish with ways to make the prayer Come Holy Spirit part of an ordinary day, from meetings to household tasks, while leaving time to listen.
